Thanks to modern DNA analysis, investigators were able to track down the suspect in a brutal rape that occurred more than 24 years ago.
October 21, 1995, at around seven in the evening, 9-year-old girl from lake forest (CA) was returning home after buying school supplies at a store nearby. Suddenly, an unknown man grabbed her and dragged in Serrano Creek Park. The maniac forced the victim to undress and raped her, after which ran away.
When the frightened girl arrived home, she immediately told their parents about the incident who called the police. Law enforcement have connected all of your power to track down the criminal. They collected the necessary DNA evidence, but at that time in the database is not finding any matches.
«Nine years this brave little girl after the brutal harassment and rape — have been able to provide the description [of the perpetrator] our investigators. She is incredibly strong,» said orange County Sheriff don Barnes.
But even a detailed sketch, in case there were no leads until the rapist showed up again. Three years later, on 2 June 1998, in the middle of the day when the 31-year-old woman jogged along a trail near the road in mission Viejo (CA), the same man jumped out of the bushes, dragged her deep into the forest and raped her. The case remained unsolved until April of 2018, the investigators in the Northern part of the state reported the arrest of 73-year-old Joseph-d’angelo, who is considered the Prime suspect in 12 murders, 45 rapes and more than 120 burglaries in the 70-80-ies.
To catch the alleged killer police used a public database of DNA, which people find relatives, which is not suspected. Detective Jason Perez of orange County saw the news about the capture of-d’angelo and decided to try the same technique. Law enforcement was shocked when the trail led not even to one suspect, but just two. Namely, identical twins with identical DNA.
After consulting with prosecutors, police arrested both men in their homes in the Highlands. After questioning the charges were brought against only one of the brothers, 53-year-old Kirven Michael Conter, the second was released. At the time of the first incident he was about 29 years old.

According to Sheriff Barnes, officials have contacted both victims to report the news of the arrest. The younger of them, which is around 33, was shocked by the arrest, and another woman — were «jubilant».
Defendant is in Orange County Jail and held on bail of $1 million If convicted, he faces 125 years in prison to life.
