The father of two children managed to dial 911 and ask for help when it pierced a two-inch metal rod in the accident

A father of two from Texas, severely injured in the accident, was able to call 911 and report the incident — although it was pierced with a two-inch metal rod.

On Tuesday morning, 18 February, 26-year-old Jake Tabor were sent to work in the Willis (50 miles North of Houston), when suddenly crashed into a deer and lost control of the vehicle. The car drove into the fence and one of the metal rods pierced the man in the stomach.

Fortunately, Tabor was able, through the pain, dial 911 and even remained conscious until paramedics arrived. Rescuers took 30 minutes to get Jake out of the truck, whereupon he was immediately taken to the hospital.

This is Jake Tabor. His wife shared these pictures with me of him with his 2 little girls. She tells me he is in the ICU, stable, and that doctors removed the pipe from his abdomen — she says it barely missed his heart. She says he had many more surgeries @MCESD_1 @KHOU #KHOU11 pic.twitter.com/4lJ2MCjgx5

According to doctors, the man was two steps away from death: terminal only narrowly missed the heart, and if he pulled, or at least shifted, Tabor would have lost a lot of blood is critical.

At the moment the man is in stable condition, but he will need more surgeries «to repair the damaged guardrail bodies» and at least 6 months for a full recovery.
