The expert spoke about the connection between healthy sleep and chronotypes

Healthy sleep is closely associated with 4 human chronotypes: wolf, bear, lion and dolphin. This was told to the Daily Mail by a somnologist from Sydney (Australia), Olivia Arezzolo.

According to the magazine «Profile», quoting Arezzolo, all chronotypes have different needs for restoration. So, a lion who goes to bed early and gets up, as a rule, requires less sleep than a bear. And wolves fall asleep late at night — and will prefer to sleep at least until 9 am.

Bears, the expert says, most often get up at 7 am and have a habit of drinking coffee to cheer up — but they finally wake up no earlier than 10. By the way, they make up 55% of the population.

The dolphin, according to Arezzolo, is a «typical insomnia sufferer». According to the somnologist, he has no established daily routine: sometimes dolphins can sleep for 2 hours, and sometimes — 10.

The expert added that genes are no less important, and cited as an example a study according to which people with a mutation of the DEC2 gene sleep for about 6 hours — much less than those who do not have DEC2. They sleep for about 8 hours.
