The giants of the fashion world, the company LVMH and Kering, decided to refuse to work with too thin models, listening to critics who have long said that the fashion industry actively encourages eating disorders.

Models on the runway, promote the formation of unhealthy and unrealistic ideas about how it should look like a beautiful body. However, it is these women choose to showcase new collections, as slim and tall model fits better than the female standard size. And given the fact that most women do not fit the ideal model parameters, the fashion houses could use a few more to diversify the selection of its models to represent the real picture with all the shapes and sizes of the figurespresented in society.

Now, models on the catwalk must be more French size 32, which fits us size 0 or XXS – XS. The fashion house also now would not work with models under the age of 16 to demonstrate the clothing for adults.

The head of Kering, the billionaire Francois-Henri Pinault hopes that this change will catch on in the fashion industry and the actions of the pioneers will inspire the entire industry to follow suit. Among the brands, who refused skinny models, included Givenchy, Yves Saint Laurent, Alexander McQueen, Marc Jacobs, Thomas Pink, Fendi and Stella McCartney.

The reason for these changes, taken by two French companies, was the entry into force of the law on ban of very thin models. Those who violate the French law threatens big fines of up to 75,000 euros (more than 81 000) or imprisonment for a term not exceeding six months. At the conclusion of the contract model are required to submit a valid medical certificate that they are healthy and can work. In addition, representatives of Kering and LVMH said that the girls at work will be able to consult with a psychologist or therapist if necessary.
