Walmart employees to study at universities for $1 a day

One of the largest employers in the United States — Walmart — has expressed the wish to support their employees in pursuing higher education in the field of business and management supply chain.

They are required only a willingness to learn, get a degree in these areas and pay the daily $1 of tuition. All other expenses, including full tuition and fees, purchase of textbooks, will take on Walmart. The company also will reduce the number of work hours for studying.

Walmart offers its employees training in three universities: the University of Florida in Gainesville, University of Brandman in Irvine (CA) and Bellevue University (ne), as well as special online programs for working people.

This is not the only American company that provides education grants to its employees. Giants such as Chipotle Mexican Grill and Starbucksalso encourage their employees cash payments for training.

In addition, Walmart is trying to keep valuable staff and attract new increase in the minimum wage to $11 / hour, paid maternity leave and various benefits for workers caring for foster children.

Employees will be able to join the educational programme after three months of work at Walmart. And, as stated by company executives, a mandatory time frame for testing is not provided. The employee can quit at any time, continuing the training at their own expense.

Walmart has not yet calculated costs for the coming educational campaign, however, hope that within five years, about 68 thousand employees to participate in this program.
