Police in Columbia (South Carolina) on Saturday, March 30, reported the capture of a kidnapper and murderer, 21-year-old USC student Samantha Josephson, dead in a Chevrolet Impala, thinking that her Uber. In connection with this case was arrested 24-year-old Nathaniel David Rowland.

The girl’s body was discovered by a hunter on Friday afternoon in the rural area of Clarendon: a man found it in 40 feet (12.2 m) from the road.

On Saturday around 3 a.m., two blocks from Five Points in Columbia (the place where he had last seen the girl alive), a police patrol stopped a black Chevrolet Impala that was being driven by Rowland. It is reported that the suspect left the vehicle and tried to escape from the police, but he failed. During a search of the car found traces of blood, a mobile phone of the student, as well as bleach, wet wipes and antibacterial agents.

According to police, on the back seat of the Chevrolet Impala were installed the car seat and turned on the door lock from children, and this meant that she immediately fell into the trap.

The chief of the police Department of Colombia Skip Holbrook said Saturday at a press conference: «In fact, she called Uber. <…> She just mistakenly sat in that car thinking that it will go to Uber. Our hearts are broken. There is nothing more difficult than facing the family and explain how he killed their loved one…»

Holbrook not told reporters the details: the motive and how was killed Josephson. It is known that Rowland previously lived in the area where it was discovered the girl’s body.

It is reported that during the arrest of Rowland’s in the car with him was a woman, whose name was not disclosed. As the police said, is a friend of Rowland’s, and she is cooperating with law enforcement.
