Leaked 4 million data from the Amazon cloud

Last month in the leaked about 4 million records containing personal information customers of Time Warner Cable. Center security Kromtech found files larger than 600 GB of data on the public server Amazon.

Compromised data included user names, email addresses, MAC addresses, serial numbers of devices and the financial transaction information. According to reports, social security numbers and credit card information were not disclosed.

The main communication Director Kromtech Bob Dyachenko, described the mechanics of the leaks on its web site: «They used the Amazon cloud, but incorrectly configured, leaving available. The memory area of the Amazon AWS secure by default, but somehow left the public. Most likely, the engineers forgot about it and never closed public configuration. This allows anyone who has an Internet connection, to access extremely confidential documents.»

After the discovery of the error, the information was immediately removed. Currently the incident is being investigated.
