In new York arrested the «godfathers» of Cosa Nostra

Yesterday in new York , FBI agents arrested 19 members of the Italian mafia — La Cosa Nostra.

As reports Reuters, citing the Federal Bureau of investigation, most of the arrested members of the «family» luchese, which is considered one of the five the oldest and most famous mafia clans in new York and new Jersey.

Among the detained 81-year-old Matthew Madonna (the alleged boss or godfather of the family), Steven «the Wonder boy» Kria, Sr., assistant to the boss, and Stephen Kria, Jr., who are suspected including the murder of gangster Michael Mellisa in 2013.

They and other detainees were charged with distribution of drugs, fraud, assault, extortion, burglary, gambling, and intimidation of witnesses. All the members of Cosa Nostra had done for 17 years – since 2000.

«As we see, the Cosa Nostra is still alive and active in new York, but we did not stop on the way to eradicate it,» said U.S. attorney John Kim.

It is believed that the family Lucchese became the prototype of the heroes of the Oscar-winning film Martin Scorsese’s 1990 «Goodfellas» (Goodfellas).
