According to police, today at 5.15 am near the South-West corner of Washington Square Park with a serious gunshot wound of the left leg, was discovered 38-year-old man. Wound the victim had inflicted on himself.
Later, investigators found near a gun that apparently was fired. In a man’s pocket was found a «store of ammunition» consisting of more than a dozen rounds.
The wounded was taken to Bellevue Hospital Center in stable condition. About the circumstances of the incident are not yet known. Maybe it was an accident.
The South-West corner of the Park, facing MacDougal Street was closed for investigation for several hours.
