A fire in a new York high-rise claimed the lives of two people and sent on a hospital bed six. Misfortune overtook the victims of the incident at night, when many of them were asleep and were not physically able to urgently escape.
According to ABC 7, the flames flared up an hour after midnight in one of the apartments on the 10th floor of a building on East Tremont Avenue, Bronx. Put out the fire, firefighters found in the room of a man of advanced years — he showed no signs of life. The victim was taken to Jacobi medical center, where doctors pronounced him dead. It has been identified as 75-year-old John Quinones.
Another body was found in the hallway of the same dwelling. 50-year-old man was declared dead at the scene. While the authorities do not give information about the identity of the second victim.
According to NBC, citing sources in the fire Department, six people received injuries of varying severity, including two firefighters received minor injuries. The remaining four victims — the residents of a burning building: two of them are in critical condition and two in serious.
