She said friends that will go in the morning for a swim and disappeared. On the beach found her skirt, sarong, sandals, phone, wallet and passport.

«That night we had heavy rains and winds, so I’m afraid she could hide in an unsafe place,» — said the publication of Newsweek Hannah’s friend, Maggie Guzman. By the time when the island was raided by Maria, September 19, Hannah was never found.

In 2008, new York neighbors, the Khans in the room reported that she was missing, leaving keys, phone, wallet and ID. After 19 days the girl unconscious, floating face down, found in the Harbor of new York, captain of the Staten Island ferry.

Hannah found alive, but remembered nothing about what happened to her. As found by the doctors, she suffers from a rare memory disorder – dissociative Fugue. It is a disease characterized by the sudden, but a deliberate move to an unfamiliar place, after which the patient completely forgets all the information about yourself up to name. Memory for generic information (literature, science, etc.) is stored. Saved and the ability to remember new.

In all other respects, except for amnesia, the patient behaves normally. The same people can come up with a new name and a biography and do not know that they are sick. They can find another job (often unrelated to the former) and lead outwardly normal lives. A Fugue state can last from several days to several months, if not longer.

After the incident, Hannah moved to Philadelphiaand then in Maryland, where in 2013 she went through another Fugue state, then moved to the virgin Islands and began teaching at the Montessori school, where she characterized only from a positive side.

Friends and colleagues continue to search for Hannah throughout the island, the other virgin Islands and even in Florida, hoping that she’s alive, but hiding somewhere from the devastating hurricane. As reported by the national Alliance against mental illness, «stressful situations can trigger the symptoms of dissociative amnesia».

«Our beloved Hannah is gone. We don’t know what happened, and hope she’s found alive and healthy. Our thoughts and prayers are with her,» said the NY Times of the girl’s relatives.
