The attacker threatened to detonate a bomb at LaGuardia airport

On Saturday morning the attacker with a suspicious package caused a stir at the airport La Guardia. Came into conflict with an employee of Spirit Airlines, an elderly man threatened to set off the explosion. A skirmish took place in terminal B. Shortly after the words were followed by actions — the suspect brought in a suspicious package, leave it in the room and walked away.

Police and airport security were forced to call the bomb squad. The terminal was evacuated and some flights were canceled. The airport authority warned passengers about possible delays in sending aircraft.

The incident triggered a traffic jam on the Grand Central Parkway.

Fortunately, the alarm was false. Arrived on the scene, the experts found that the explosives were missing from the package, and at 9:30 the normal operation of the terminal is recovered.

The perpetrator of the incident, 70-year-old resident of Michigan, did not have time to leave the airport — he was immediately detained for questioning.
