Rand Paul is recovering from his injuries — five broken ribs and contusions of the lungs. It is unclear when he will return to Washington, said the Senator’s aides on Sunday, saying that the injuries which he received Friday, much more serious than originally thought.
The Republican Senator from Kentucky and candidate for the presidency in 2016 allegedly attacked his neighbor is a 59-year-old Rene Boucher, who was charged with assault in the fourth degree.
The cause of the conflict between the Floor and the Butcher remains a mystery to local residents, who know both men as successful physicians. According to Doug Stafford, chief of staff of the Floor, the Senator has five broken ribs: three displaced fracture, so it is difficult to move because of the pain. The recovery could take several months.
Boucher released on Saturday on bail, which amounted to $ 7,500. It needs to appear in court on 9 November. The motive for the attack is unknown, there is no indication that it was political.
