Today, June 8, at about midnight local time on the territory of the U.S. Embassy in Kiev there was an explosion. There were no injuries. The police considered this an act of terrorism, but the Embassy did not consider it in this way.
The explosive device was discovered on the lawn in front of the Embassy. It is believed that an unknown person threw him over a high fence.
The Embassy continues to work normally and cooperate with law enforcement authorities in the investigation of the incident. The national guard of Ukraine and the police have strengthened the defense of the building.
Some time later, law enforcement authorities reclassified them investigated the terrorist act in hooliganism (Art. 296 of UK of Ukraine), as head of the National police Sergey Knyazev said that “the subject who left the territory of the Embassy, could not cause anybody harm.”
