On Monday morning, 16-year-old schoolgirl was sexually assaulted by another student. The incident occurred on one of the stairs of the Washington Irving school, located on Irving place in Manhattan. 18-year-old native of Brooklyn attacked the girl at 8:15 between the third and fourth floor.
Already at 12:30 rapist arrested — as it turned out, he was acquainted with the victim.
Unfortunately, this case is far from unique. In the NYPD report that the number of sexual crimes in urban schools had doubled and rapes tripled in comparison to last year.
Parents blame the Manhattan emergency insufficient security measures in the building of Washington Irving — in particular, the lack of surveillance cameras on the stairs.
