Speaking to the press, mayor bill de Blasio officially called the incident an «attempted terrorist attack». He said that a small number of victims – merit operational work of emergency units and police. The bomber was arrested actually at the scene.

At the moment we know that the explosion was planned and committed by 27-year-old Brooklyn resident who is originally from Bangladesh. His name is Acid Ulla. He is «follower of ISIS», by a suicide bomber. For the attack he used an improvised explosive device, attaching it to itself on the principle of «suicide bomber’s belt». However, the offender activated the device prematurely while in the tunnel, so only worked part of charge. The explosion seriously injured the terrorist, but killed him. Ulla was detained and neutralized. At the moment, his life is under threat.
In addition to the bomber in the attack injured three more. Two of them received minor injuries, characterized as a light concussion (headaches, ringing in the ears). Third victim with serious injuries was taken to Bellevue Hospital.
Police Commissioner James O’neil asked all new Yorkers to be vigilant and to report suspicious cases, facts and people to the police. This will help prevent future terrorist attacks, said the head of the NYPD.
