The busiest airport in the world in Atlanta stopped working due to a failure in the power supply

The real collapse happened on Sunday at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. A power outage caused the stop working in several parts of the airport. This is stated in the message on the page of the airport on Twitter. As it was established, the power supply line was damaged by builders, currently under reconstruction.

Some passengers traveling in electric shuttles between terminals at the time of the outages was cut off from the outside world and just got stuck. However, arrived at the scene rescuers helped them to quickly leave the bus.

Federal civil aviation Agency has forbidden the departure of flights heading to the Atlanta international airport. This means that planes must remain at the place of departure until the situation is clarified. Just cancelled over 600 flights, it affected tens of thousands of passengers.

The same aircraft which already flew to Atlanta diverted to other airports for landing.

After 6 hours of electricity on some systems was resumed. The tower of the airport is now working, however, to restore completely impossible, because the terminals still has no power.

According to Georgia Power, the supply of electricity to the airport should be fully restored around midnight.
