Public holidays do not forget about the need to be overly cautious, especially on roads. Despite the many warnings from the authorities, patrol regularly document cases of drunk driving. And in some cases guards can even become victims of the negligent attitude of people to safety.

For example, as happened with officer Andrew Camilleri. On Christmas eve, 22-year-old driver at high speed rammed a CHP patrol car. The collision killed 33-year-old policeman, who had three children of 12, 6 and 2 years.

In the car was another officer, Jonathan Velasquez, who escaped with minor injuries.

Assistant chief of police Ernest Sanchez said that the driver was driving with high speed on highway 880 in Hayward, and then crashed into the back of a patrol SUV parked on the roadside. The accident occurred on Sunday evening, December 24, blocking travel to the South side for a few hours.

According to Camilleri, the killer, returning from the party, was under the influence of alcohol and possibly marijuana.

California Governor Jerry brown expressed his condolences to the relatives of the deceased officer.

«We are now together with family, friends and the entire California highway police mourn his (officer — approx. ed.), death and honor the memory».
