New high-speed train Brightline knocked a woman to death during a test run in Florida

The emergence of a new high-speed rail service Brightline in South Florida was marked by a fatal incident. On Friday, the day before the official launch, one of the trains knocked a woman to death on the rails.

The incident occurred on 12 January at 18:25 during the test trip. A train hit a 32-year-old Melissa Lovell, passing by 6th Avenue, located to the North of the railway the Florida East Coast. At this moment on Board were mostly politicians and journalists. According to police, Boynton beach, none of them was hurt.

Currently, the investigation continues. Eyewitnesses told the police that the victim tried to cross the railroad after he dropped the barrier. The carrier assures that the warning devices at the crossing were working properly.

Despite the tragedy Saturday morning launch of the train service took place at the scheduled time. 8:00 the train departed from the station in West palm beach to Fort Lauderdale. Further Brightline plans to expand the service to cover Miami, international airport Orlando, Tampa and Jacksonville.
