Manhattan had a water main break (video)

In the heart of new York broke through the water: the streets of Manhattan and the closest subway station flooded and traffic suspended.

The accident occurred yesterday (24 January) evening on Broadway between 157 and 158 streets. As of Thursday morning, two adjacent buildings on Washington heights remain without water until the rescuers trying to fix the plumbing. According to estimates WABC, about 75 apartments were affected due to breakage.

Water fills the nearest metro station — «157 th street» (line Broadway and Seventh Avenue ay-ar-ti), while the underground was not suspended.

According to power company Con Edison, the failure did not affect the supply of electricity and gas in nearby buildings. The accident also injured about 15 companies.

Residents of the Big Apple, which usually go through this area, it is recommended to find a different route to avoid traffic jams. It is not known when the movement in this part of Manhattan will be restored.
