Caution: for 6 tourists drowned and 1 was missing in California

This summer, bathing in many California rivers is a threat to life because of the heat in the mountains is rapidly melting the accumulated winter snow, creating streams of cold water. Underestimating the danger, some residents of the state become the victims of the disaster.

What happened to 36-year-old Jose Castaneda, who was on vacation with his family at the Merced river near the Park, Hagaman. On Wednesday, a man and his pregnant wife decided to go into the water during strong currents, taking 3-year-old daughter — it was their mistake: a powerful stream picked up the baby and carried her away. The parents rushed to the rescue, but was powerless against the elements — the current was stronger than them.

The baby and her mother were rescued, but the fate of the father is unknown. Despite the fact that after PE took almost a week, Castaneda is still considered missing.

After the incident, the Sheriff’s Department, Merced County issued a warning, urging tourists to stay away from the water. The Ministry reported that the river has several signs prohibiting swimming, but sometimes campers do not notice them.

Castaneda is not the first and unfortunately not the last victim of the California reservoirs. A few days after his disappearance, 26-year-old resident of Beverly hills drowned after falling into cold Creek in the National Park «Sequoia». From mid-April here under the same circumstances has already killed 2 people.

Three more were sunk over the past two months in the river Tul.
