In the Mexican city of «fireworks» again there was a blast: 19 killed, 40 wounded

Today, 5 July, at the fireworks factory, located near Mexico city, several explosions.

The city of Tultepec, which has over 2 centuries engaged in the production of fireworks, the second time in 2 years becomes a place of unspeakable tragedy.

As a result of four explosions killed 19 people, 40 more got wounds of different severity. Pictures and video appeared in social networks, you can see a huge column of smoke, and around the fire — destroyed buildings and scorched earth.

Among the dead were four firefighters and two police officers who rushed to the scene after the first explosion, but killed the second wave.

Luis Felipe Puente, head of the civil protection service of Mexico, said that the explosions began in the unauthorized underground workshop.

The Mexicans immediately began to Express their outrage addressed to the local authorities, who, in their opinion, not able to prevent the disaster happening on the same plot.

«Guess what happened in Tultepec (again)…» — wrote in a tweet to the local newspaper Reforma. «Just 11 days ago as a result of the explosion in Tultepec, 1 person died and six were wounded; 18 days ago another [explosion] led to seven deaths… Explosions and tragedy in Tultepec repeated constantly».

Many residents earn their living by making and selling a homemade fireworks and explosions for them — a common phenomenon.

Although incidents with pyrotechnics, occur regularly, the latest deadly incident of similar magnitude occurred on 22 December 2016 at the market of San Pablito in the midst of the Christmas season. During the last tragedy, 42 people were killed and hundreds more injured.
