Another high-profile arrest took place in San Bernardino (California). The ICE agents detained the man, despite the fact that he was driving his pregnant wife to the hospital.

During this time, they are unable to obtain the status of legal immigrants, but have never broken the law except the moment of crossing the border.
«I feel really overwhelmed. My husband should be here, he’s waited so long for his son, and someone just took it from us,» says Maria del Carmen Onega.
Nevertheless, representatives of ICE have his version of events. After Mexican authorities issued a warrant for the arrest of a suspect, the Immigration and customs enforcement began to follow the offender.
Press Secretary ICE’s Lori Haley stated that since the man is wanted for murder and is in the US illegally, the agents had every right to arrest him at any moment. She did not explain why the police did not wait until the suspect will take the spouse to the hospital.
«Anyone who violates immigration law, may be subjected to arrest, detention and deportation from the United States of America,» the statement said ICE.
At the same time, the family’s lawyer argues that the Mexican authorities deny, if applied to the Immigration police with a request to find Joel Arrone. According to him, there is no evidence that his client was involved in the murder.
«The life of the mother and child who is a citizen of this country, threatened. This demonstrates the lack of common sense in the policy of «zero tolerance», which ignores human needs», — said the lawyer.
