The press Secretary of the US Embassy David Gainer thanked the police for «quick response». On the motives of the shooter so far this week the mission is not working in respect of the Muslim holiday of Eid al-Adha.

The attack occurred on the background of aggravation of relations between Turkey and the United States over trial of an American pastor Andrew Craig Brunson, a prisoner in a Turkish prison. Tensions between the two countries stepped up arrests of NASA scientist and 3 local employees of the Consulate.

For his part, the President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan urged citizens to boycott American electronic products. Then in networks, many Turks started to upload videos as they break their iPhones. In addition, Turkey has raised duties on the import of certain goods from the United States.
