Despite careful attempts by the Chicago police Department (Chicago Police Department — CPD) to stop the chaos after last weekend gunshot wounds received 58 people (6 of which died), the last day again marred by several deaths.
For Friday and Saturday (24 and 25 August) in the windy City shot 14 people, three of whom were mortally wounded.
The first victim was 31-year-old George Jackson, who was sitting on the front porch in the heart of Englewood. After midnight, he was approached by two unknown and opened fire. Jackson died one hour due to the large number of injuries throughout the body: the head, pelvis and both legs.
The second victim was 20-year-old boy who was walking in the area of Humboldt Park about 8:30 PM. The killer shot him on the move from a car with tinted Windows.
The last fatal case occurred on Saturday, around half 12 at night. A few people approached the 27-year-old woman sitting in the car Lyft in the area Back of the Yards and opened fire. She was shot in the back. The victim was urgently taken to hospital but could not be saved.
A friend of the deceased Angie Castro told the Chicago Tribune that the driver of the car was the victim’s boyfriend. «He was shocked and freaked out,» — said Castro.
In view of the constant shootouts mayor of Chicago Rahm Emanuel has come under increasing pressure. The public demands from him some action, or to take appropriate action to stop the crime, or to resign.
This month, the head of the city hall blamed the lack of «morals» residents of black and Hispanic neighborhoods where crime is mainly observed boom.
