Solid oak older than 350 years collapsed yesterday, August 30, in the California city of pleasant hill in the Bay area of San Francisco, from 7 crushing parked cars. Fortunately, the people in them were not.

«At first it was like a bat — it’s the sound. And then a terrible crunch. My husband jumped up and realized: Oh my God, that tree!» told Audra CADD, in the yard where the oak grew.

The owners of the damaged cars and the local residents now ask a reasonable question: who will be responsible for damage caused by tree damage?

The oak was under the protection of the authorities, they even gave him the name «Emma». According to the husband of the Odra river — Ashley, the protective status of the tree meant that they could not get rid of it and even for cutting of branches required to obtain a special permit.

«Once we got it and then was repeatedly denied,» added Ashley.

The official representative of the authorities in pleasant hill Mike Nielsen stated that the oak tree belongs to the owners of the land on which it grew, that is, spouses of CAD, and, therefore, to compensate for the damage they will have. And also to pay to the collapsed giant sawed and removed from the street.
