A man who survived in an abandoned mine, killing 3 rattlesnakes, climbed up there for the gold

His incredible story of survival in an abandoned Arizona mine yesterday, 28 Oct, straight from the hospital shared John Waddell.

Recall that on 15 October a man broke into an abandoned mine 140 km North-West of Phoenix. After two days, with fractures of both legs, waiting for rescue, managing to kill 3 of rattlesnakes.

«When I was mobile, but there wasn’t a connection. Flashlight “lived” long. Food and water was not, — says the man. — I was scared. Hope almost disappeared.»

As it turned out, John Waddell went to the abandoned mine… for gold. By the way, this is not his first hike to the abandoned gold mines of Arizona.

After recovering from the painful shock, Waddell found at the bottom of mine stick and made it a sort of splint for broken ankles. But soon he had to use it as a weapon: next there was a terrible sound «rattle» of the rattlesnakes. The man was able to «neutralize» 3 deadly neighbors.

«It was survival mode. Or they — or I,» says Waddell.

On the second day of stay in the mine, he started to have hallucinations. Trying to avoid dehydration, he twisted the shirt and drinking your own sweat.

On the third day the man heard the sound of the motor. To the mine drove his friend, who promised to go after a gold digger, if he did not return at the appointed time.

In the hospital John Waddell will have to recover another 6-8 weeks. However, despite the horror, he still intends to explore other abandoned gold mines.

«I’ve been doing this for 20 years. It is as a poison in the blood,» says 60-year-old thrill-seeker.
