Crashed a bus with children’s football team: 1 child killed, 45 injured

On the morning of 3 December on interstate 30 in Arkansas crashed a bus with children’s football team from Tennessee.

According to preliminary information, 1 child was killed and 45 people (the young players and accompanying adults) have got traumas of various severity.

As have informed in state police, the bus overturned about 40 km South-West of little Rock. The bus with children riding in Memphis (tn), from Texas, where at the weekend the players participated in the competition.

It is known that the bus was carrying the team «stars» of the community of Orange Mound in Memphis. This is a historic African-American district in the South-East of the capital of Arkansas, home of many children and adolescent players. The community was created after the Civil war African Americans and for African Americans.

As reported at the children’s hospital in little rock, after this morning’s crash was delivered to 24 patients. According to hospital representatives, all the affected children are «in stable condition». Police questioned the bus driver. It is known that the vehicle belongs to Scott Shuttle Service from Somerville (tn). According to the man, he «lost control». So far no charges have been laid.

«On behalf of all the people of Memphis want to say that our thoughts and prayers are with the children and their families,» — said the mayor of Memphis Jim Strickland.

Memphis is located around 209 km to the East of little Rock.
