American student brutally murdered in the Netherlands. The suspect is a roommate.

21-year-old Sarah Papenheim from Minnesota, who studied in the Netherlands, was found dead in a pool of blood in a rented apartment. The Prime suspect in the murder of the American is considered to be her roommate.

Wednesday, December 12, the Rotterdam police received a call about the quarrel at the Kralingse Kerklaan. When the police entered the apartment, they found lying on the floor a girl with stab wounds. Police tried to resuscitate her but to no avail.

«They found her in a pool of blood, stabbed to death, beaten and stabbed to death for no reason» — said in an interview with FOX 9 the victim’s mother Doni Odegard. The woman was convinced that the crime was committed by a neighbor’s daughter, who lived in the next room.

The police also considers him the Prime suspect. According to police, 21-year-old boy (name not known) was arrested at the exit of the train in Eindhoven, about 60 miles South-East of Rotterdam. Presumably, he was trying to escape after the crime.

Odegard told FOX 9 that her daughter often complained about the disposition of her roommate, and that he often had mood swings. According to the grieving mother, she even told her daughter to move to another apartment, but she refused, saying that she is his «only friend».

Papenheim moved to the Netherlands to study at Erasmus University in Rotterdam.

«Sarah was studying psychology and lived in the Netherlands from 2016. We Express our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Sarah at this difficult time. University shocked by this terrible incident», — reads the statement of the institution.

This is not the first tragedy in the family Pappenheim. Three years ago, her brother committed suicide. His suicide was linked with the decision of the girls to go to the Department of psychology.

«I have SPE times went through with it, says Odegard. I already cried so much that tears no longer. Now I am in a state of anger.»
