New York police save the child, knocked down a pedestrian

The NYPD is investigating an accident in Brooklyn, which involved law enforcement officers. On Saturday, December 15, at about 18.45 patrol car hit a pedestrian near New Lots Avenue and Jerome Street.

According to the police, 2 of their employees took a call about an armed man on the metro and hurried to the scene. (As it turned out, it was a false alarm.)

The driver of the patrol car abruptly turned left from New Lots Avenue to Jerome Avenue and suddenly saw in the middle of the roadway of the child. To avoid collision, he abruptly turned the wheel and hit a 32-year-old man who apparently tried to lead the boy to a safe stretch of road.

Having brought down the pedestrian, police car left the pavement and crashed into a tree and parked next to him. The roar from the accident was so strong that many mistook it for gunfire and bombarded 911 with reports of gunfire in the area.

«I saw a boy in front of a police car. They tried to swerve to avoid it, — the eyewitness told Rahim Pinchbeck. — He was a little boy (about my height) and, in my opinion, autistic, he ran [on the roadway] from parents».

Pedestrian with broken legs, were hospitalized at Brookdale Hospital Medical Center in critical condition. Police also seriously injured and are now in NYC Health + Hospitals/ (kings County): officer Torres when confronted head broke the windshield, and officer Rodriguez was injured neck and back.
