Fraudsters staged an attack on customers of Netflix, in order to secure their payment data

Be warned about a phishing attack on customers of Netflix!

There have been many statements from the victims, whose mail came the message — supposedly from this entertainment company — the account lockout due to outdated billing information. To restore the account to the victims offered to follow the link and enter relevant details.

It is noteworthy that the attention of militiamen was drawn to the situation after a letter from the scammers got, without having an account on Netflix, one of the policemen in Ohio, writes ABC News.

On its official website Netflix has posted additional instructions to customers:

  • Never enter your login or financial information after following a link in an email or text message. If you are not sure visit this site Netflix, dial netflix.com in the address bar of the browser.
  • Never click on links or open attachments in email or text messages that you have received all of a sudden, regardless of the source.
  • If you suspect that the e-mail or text message is not from Netflix, don’t answer it, and forward it to the security service of the company.

The police in turn asks all Internet users to be vigilant, as counterfeit treatment are sent not only on behalf of Netflix. Pay attention to inconsistencies criminals give detail. So, in this phishing campaign, scammers are turning to Netflix to customers: «Hi, Dear» and not by name, and an invalid contact phone number.
