In the Hollywood hills for a year wielding robber posing as a buyer of luxury homes

Police in Los Angeles arrested 32-year-old Benjamin Eitan Ackerman, a suspect in the robbery of 13 luxury homes in the Hollywood hills. Among the victims were celebrities, in particular usher, Jason Derulo, and Adam Lambert.

As told by a LAPD detective Jared Timmons to «check prices» to the situation and develop a plan for the robbery, Ackerman used the «open days» in homes for sale. The man was posing as a potential buyer or realtor.

«They took him for a buyer, said the investigator. When he appeared, was dressed immaculately. He played the role.» The detective also added that the suspect is «communications» in new York and a criminal record.

In September of 2018 during a search of the house of Ackerman seized about 2 thousand items, including jewelry and works of art worth millions of dollars. Police posted the list of images of some items in the hope to find the owners and return them stolen. Ackerman then was arrested, but made bail at $1 million. Police said the suspect probably did not work alone, and called the operation «sophisticated».

«We still find out who he worked and how he did it, says Timmons. — This is a very sophisticated person. In many cases we find fake video surveillance cameras. We are still learning about them.»

The district attorney’s office Los Angeles not yet filed a lawsuit against Ackerman in connection with the thefts, stating that the «investigation continues.»
