At the right time and in the right place: Buena Park man pulled a crash victim from a burning car

A man heroically saved the life of a stranger on the first day of the new year.

Alfred Castro was returning home with his wife and children after the Christmas party. The man was driving on highway 91 to the West, when he saw on the Eastern strip of the burning car. Not doubting for a second, he stopped, took a flashlight and ran towards the scene of the accident. Castro used the flashlight to slow down the cars that went forward, crossed the highway and jumped over the Central barrier. From the burning car heard a woman screaming.

«I had to find a solution,» recalls Castro incident.

According to the man, the victim of the accident lost consciousness and her head was literally at a distance of 2 cm from the flame, so he grabbed the woman by the wrist and quickly pulled out of the car. Alfred then covered her with a blanket and handed to paramedics. The woman suffered serious injuries, but in the ambulance she woke up and talked to the doctors.

Castro said that at the right time and in the right place. «It was a spontaneous reaction. Someone else’s life was threatened, I did what was necessary to save her,» added the man.
