Bird Box Challenge: in the US a teenager with a cap on the eyes drove into the oncoming lane and crashed into a car

Just last week, Netflix called on fans of the mega series «Bird box» («Bird Box») not to participate in the Bird Box Challenge, but… at least one of the spectators just did not heed to these words.

After release the pilot episode on 13 December the «Bird box» in one week became record on number of views. Thriller, in which the main role was played by Oscar-winner Sandra Bullock, tells the story of a post-apocalyptic world where humanity is going crazy because of the mysterious creatures that came from nowhere. To avoid this fate, the characters of the series, the survivors, are in the eyes of the bandages and move to the touch.

Shortly after the release of «Bird box» there was such a thing as Bird Box Challenge: people test for yourself what it’s like to live with a blindfold on in our reality. Many viewers began to take part in this extreme challenge, thus exposing themselves to constant danger. The consequence of such verification and was the accident that occurred in Utah on January 7th.

According to police, a car drove into the oncoming lane, crashed into another car and then a pole and a concrete barrier. As it turned out, was driving 17-year-old girl who, having pulled a cap over eyes, moving at the speed of about 35 mph (56 km/h). Beside her was a 16-year-old passenger.

On Friday, January 11, the police Layton city wrote on Twitter that as a result of collision nobody has suffered.

«Bird Box Challenge while driving… predictable result,» — said in a statement to the police. The Department also urged drivers not to participate in the viral challenge.

«It is simply shocking that anyone engaged in it, — the Lieutenant of police Layton, Travis Lyman. — The stakes are too high to do something like this while driving».
