The petition to dismiss the Director of Catholic schools, whose students mocked the Indian, have already collected 15 thousand signatures

The demand to punish the Director of High School Covington Catholic (CovCath) in Covington (Kentucky), the disciples of which mock the Indian elder, quickly gathering signatures. Already 15 million people have supported a petition demanding changes in CovCath.

Video with teenagers, disrespectful traded with the Indian, made in January 18 in Washington (DC), instantly became viral.

In the video a dozen guys in clothes and caps with the words «Make America great again», symbolizing the support of President trump, laugh, shout and jump around Indian singing prayer singing and beating drums. At some point, the man comes close to the guy and with a grin, not moving or looking away, looking at him.

«Flagrant disrespect and intolerance» shown to 64-year-old elder of Omaha Nathan Phillips — a veteran of the Vietnam war and former Director of the Alliance of indigenous peoples. On Friday he spent at Arlington national cemetery’s annual ceremony honoring veterans — native Americans.

Matthew Lehman, a graduate of the CovCath 1995, created on Change.org the petition, which demanded the authorities take action in connection with the incident. According to him, the current leadership allowed «to take root in the school such trends like elitism and exclusivity», and school «went astray».

«Unfortunately, what happened in Washington should not surprise those associated with CovCath,» says Matthew Lehman, demanding to dismiss the Director of the school for «promoting the emergence of environment, which encouraged similar actions and words».

That day at the Lincoln Memorial were held for each other 2 events: March for life and March of solidarity indigenous peoples of the Americas. On the website CovCath said that a group of school students planning to participate in the rally «March for life», which went with the escort to Washington.

The witness of the conflict, a student Kai Titano from the University of the district of Columbia that participated in the March of indigenous peoples, said that initially the CovCath students began to bully 4 young African Americans, preaching the Bible. Nathan Phillips walked into the crowd of teenagers beating the drum and repeating the «prayer of healing», to extinguish the conflict. «They just surrounded him and mocked him, and over the chant. We really didn’t know what might happen,» says Taitano.

According to the girl, teenagers chanted: «Build a wall» and «trump 2020» until the maintainer and not took them.

Saturday CovCath in conjunction with the diocese of Covington, in which it is located, issued a statement condemning the actions of the disciples and said that an investigation will be conducted and disciplinary action — up to expulsion from school.

«We condemn the actions of the students of Covington Catholic High School January 18, after the March of life in Washington (DC) in relation to Nathan Phillips in particular, and to native Americans in General, — said in a statement. — Deepest apologies to Mr. Phillips. This behavior contradicts the Church’s teaching about dignity and respect for the human person».
