Imagine that you have the slaves: In Tennessee, there was a scandal because of school «homework»

The high school sunset Williamson County (Brentwood, tn) as a «homework» was to imagine myself as a slave. The children were instructed to brainstorm about the expectations placed on his imaginary slaves.

«Your family owns slaves. Make a list of expectations for the slaves your family,» written in one of the cells the job of eighth grade.

The school administration recognized the mistake of the teachers and soon issued an official apology for the gross violation of the educational process. Teachers who came up with the racist problem, too, apologized. They stressed that inappropriate job was canceled.

The Director of the school of sunset, Tim brown said he was sorry about the situation.

«I admit that this task was inappropriate and is taking steps to remedy the situation. I will continue to have constructive conversations with their teacher about creating assignments that take into account perspectives from all sides,» said brown.

According to the Department of education of Tennessee, 70% of students in high school sunset white.
