Bystanders jumped into the river to rescue a woman from a sinking car

The woman managed to escape after her car fell into the river.

The incident occurred on Monday (March 4) at about 10:30 in the morning. The car broke through the fence on highway 21 North Arlington (NJ), then turned over and landed in the river Passaic.

According to Lieutenant John Makalena, it happened after 22-year-old female driver (her name is not called) lost control of the car.

«She was able to get out through the window and [to climb] on the back of your car,» said Macaloon.

A passing man noticed the woman standing on the back of a car, which quickly sank. He immediately rushed to her side and helped her stay afloat when the car drowned.

«Great courageous act and a good thing, — said Lieutenant John Macaloon. He’s very brave.»
