This year marks exactly 20 years since the disappearance of 11-year-old Mikel Biggs. Her disappearance sparked the biggest investigation in the history of the police of the city of Mesa, but, unfortunately, to no avail. The most amazing and terrifying thing about this story is that the girl is gone…for fifteen minutes.
Waiting for the ice cream van
Stood a cool January evening in Mesa (Arizona), prosperous in a quiet area with houses behind white picket fences.
Children with Toltec street asked for money from parents on the street that’s supposed to bring the ice cream truck.
On the street near his home the van was waiting for two sisters – 11-year-old London and 9-year-old Kimber. The older girl went in circles on a bike. From Mikel was ready two «quarters» on ice cream for myself and sister.
Kimber got cold and she told the sister that runs away to the house for a jacket and come back. Later, the police set – Kimber was absent not more than a minute.

When the girl returned to the street, there in the road lay a bike – its wheels was still spinning. Next shone two coins for 25 cents. Here only Mikel disappeared.
Exactly 20 years have passed since then, as Mikel Biggs went missing on 2 January 1999. Her sister, Kimber Biggs, was the last person to see her.
The thing is, 20 years later, remains open. The remains of the girls are not found. In her murder or kidnapping, no one was charged. It is not revealed any hard evidence of what really happened with the girl.

There is only theory. People talked about drug dealers, went after Miquel in Mexico. That ice cream truck still came then and brought down the girl. That kidnapped her neighbor is a pedophile.
But this is nothing more than theory. Look at the facts and come back that day in January 20 years ago.
Quest: plant and abandoned mines
Mikel Biggs was the eldest of four children of Tracy and Darien of Biggov. Her disappearance sparked the biggest investigation in the history of the police Department Mesa.
The police response was I have to say, very fast. After 30 minutes in the air up the helicopter, the police were stopping all suspicious vehicles, went around the surrounding houses. Police have also questioned motorists who were stopped at checkpoints in the evening, when lost Mikel. Interviewed and 20 registered sex offenders living in Mesa. No one to arouse suspicion.
A few days later, an anonymous caller reported that Mikel should look at the Motorola factory, and the factory will search, but to no avail. We also received an email from an unknown, claimed that he kidnapped the girl.
Investigators were able to track the location of the sender and his house in Phoenix had sent a group of special forces. But «thief» was a 12-year-old, who decided to «joke».

According to the detective Gissela, it happened after investigators discovered the man lied about where he was during the disappearance of the girls. The police he said he was at work, but in fact have a mistress. The existence of a mistress, the wife of Darian knew he confessed to her a month before the incident. Pair was thinking about getting a divorce.
In addition, Darien failed a voluntary test on the lie detector, but detectives reported back in 1999 that his emotional state because of the loss of the daughter that might affect the test results conducted by the FBI.
According to Kimber Biggs, her father has changed in that period, the girl described him as «angry zombies».
Detectives tracked the movement of Darien that evening and found that he just did not have time to hide the body – a man very quickly returned home after he phoned the wife and told about his daughter’s disappearance. In addition, all the familiar (and even deceived wife) argued that Dariana and Mikel was a very good relationship.
«Mikel won’t leave the little thing on the ground at the sight of his father, noted detective Gissel in an interview with ABC News in 2009. – It was not someone she knew. She dropped the bike, she ran to the house, she threw the coins, and it all happened very quickly. I think someone grabbed her and drove away in the car.»
However, the girl’s father followed more than a year, and then ceased to suspect.
The «bad» neighbor
27 September 1999, in a peaceful area once again became restless.
A local resident came home when the refrigerator attacked a middle-aged man. He severely beat her, then raped and left for dead, and he torched the house to destroy evidence. However, the woman recovered and was able to call for help. In the car «fast» the woman whispered, «Mikel Biggs. The girl who disappeared. She had».
The attackers turned out to be a Di Blalock, who lived two blocks from Biggov and opposite the house where Mikel took lessons in piano.

Bleloch have had three convictions in three States for sexual assault, kidnapping and soliciting a child. And he was among those 20 sex offenders who were interrogated by the police for several hours after the disappearance of Mikel.
But the police said that Bllaca had an alibi, confirmed by his wife (of course, if she was telling the truth). Yes, this man had a wife and three kids! According to the wife, during the disappearance of Mikel Blalock was in the garage, repaired the mower and watched on TV the game «Arizona cardinals».
The police searched the house Bleloch, but found nothing. However, there was one more detail. In the back yard the man was standing in the trailer, which needed a separate search warrant. When the detectives returned with a warrant (alas, no information, after what time it happened), trailer in the yard was gone.
For rape and attempted murder Bleloch was sentenced to 187 years in prison. Mikel’s parents visited him in jail and directly asked whether he killed their daughter, but Blalock answered in the negative, saying that has nothing to do with it.
According to Kimber, the parents did not believe Blloku.
Dollar with a message
A glimmer of hope for the family and the detectives took place on 14 March 2018, over 1700 miles from Mesa. Then the Arizona police got a call from the town of nenagh in Wisconsin.
Caller man said he usually collects at home in a jar of change and dollar bills to girl scouts selling cookies. Taking out another note, he suddenly noticed that something was written.
«My name is Mikel Biggs. Stolen from Mesa. I’m alive» — that’s what the inscription was on the bill.

Kimber Biggs said she would like to believe, if it were a message from her sister, but the name Mikel is misspelled, and the handwriting is not similar.
«It looked like an adult trying to write like a child,» added Kimber.
And although the police tried to keep track of which way was done by bill, it was to no avail. The glimmer of hope extinguished.
On the fifth anniversary of the disappearance of Mikel in January 2004, her family held a funeral, burying an empty coffin.
Darien and Tracy Biggs broke up. They left from Arizona, both now live in Utah and do not communicate with the media.
Kimber Biggs still can’t forget that January evening. His son, 6-year-old Tivano, she talked a lot about his aunt.
