Texan who sold 7 year old son received 6 years in prison

Texan Esmeralda Garza, accused of selling her 7-year-old son and planning the sale of two other children, pleaded guilty and was sentenced to six years in prison. First assistant district attorney Matt manning said: «it is very important that we send a clear and unequivocal message: if you hurt children or do you have the audacity to sell the baby, we will do everything we can to prosecute you and put in jail in your place».

29-year-old Esmeralda Garza was arrested last summer by the police who conducted business on sale of drugs. During the investigation it turned out that she sold 7-year-old son for $2500 to pay for the purchase of drugs and planned to sell two more children: 2 — and 3-year-old daughters. Now in social networks is discussed that the sentence is too soft, however, the court used the statutory maximum punishment. Garza will have the opportunity to apply for parole in two years.

Roland Olivares, father sold 7-year-old child, told the Daily Mail, after I found out that he had no idea that his son was in danger: «I never thought she would do it with my child. He just trusts mom and didn’t think something like this would happen. You know, no one would have thought that this terrible could happen.» Olivares is divorced with Garza, but shares custody of his son. «If we knew something happened, we would have done anything to stop it,’ said Lucy Naranjo, sister of Olivares. I couldn’t imagine that someone did that. I am a mother myself. I don’t know what went on in the mind of this girl. No child deserves that survived is my nephew».
