4 Americans died in a bomb explosion near the main US base in Afghanistan

The U.S. military announced that three American soldiers and an American mercenary was killed during the explosion of an improvised explosive device near the main American base in Afghanistan. The Taliban has claimed responsibility for the attack.

According to operation Resolute support, Monday, 8 April, four Americans were killed in an explosion near Bagram air base, North of Kabul, and three others were wounded. Thus the total number of Americans killed in Afghanistan this year has reached seven.

Sources told The Post that among the four Americans was Christopher Slutman — a veteran FDNY firefighter, he was awarded the insignia and the father of three children, who worked at Ladder 27 in the Bronx. In addition, Slotman that 15 years in the FDNY, also was a marine of the United States.

According to the FDNY, 2014, Slutman was awarded the commemorative medal of the Association of firefighters for saving a woman unconscious from a burning apartment in the South Bronx.

Last year, 13 American soldiers were killed in Afghanistan.
