Shooting at the American University: 2 dead, 4 injured, suspect arrested

Police have confirmed two deaths in a shooting on the campus of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte (UNC Charlotte).

As reported by the chief of police of UNCC Jeff Baker, another four people were injured, three of them are in critical condition. One of the officers quickly found the room where they shot the suspect, disarmed him and was taken into custody.

In the video, posted to Twitter by a student Jordan Pearce, you can see how people are fleeing from the library of the campus when the police rush to the area.

Police Department Charlotte-Mecklenburg identified the suspect as 22-year-old Tristan Andrew Terrell. He has not yet filed charges.

«Right now, he wasn’t the one for whom we were following,» said Baker, adding that the suspect said nothing when he was handcuffed.

The Governor of North Carolina Roy Cooper told reporters that he plans to analyze the situation to determine how to prevent another shooting.

«Parents should not worry about your students when they send them to school,’ said Cooper. And I know that this violence must stop».

A graduate of the University Shamar Crosby said CBSN that it was the last day of class and all the students were celebrating it. According to the guy, they were preparing to go to the concert of rapper Waka Flocka Flame.
