School shooting Colorado: 6-grader had taken a baseball bat to «take» when he heard the shots

The children cried in the class of sixth-grader Nate Holly, when Tuesday, may 7, they heard the sound of gunfire.

We will remind, two students at STEM School in Highlands Ranch a suburb of Denver (state of Colorado) opened fire in two classrooms.

According to 12-year-old Nate, he froze when the shots shattered the window. His teacher started grabbing children and hiding them behind the tables and in cabinets.

«I was hiding in the corner, and they were right outside the door. I put my hand on the metal baseball bat because she was going to fight,» Nate told CNN.

Luckily, Nate was not injured, but the high school student Kendrick Castillowho was only a few days before the release, rushed to one of the gunmen and killed. Eight students were injured, but, according to doctors, all of them will survive.

A few weeks earlier, Nate’s school has been closed due to threats of execution, reported by the police in the 20-th anniversary of the tragedy in the school, «Columbine».

«In our community, in Colorado, we have suffered so much in recent times, said Steve Holly, Nate’s dad. – Will suffice. We need to change something, we need to do something, otherwise we just continue to fail our children.»

Sixth grader told me that he borrowed a mobile from a friend and called him out of class that day.

«I asked him to be brave — shared Nate’s dad. I told him that I loved him and in the way.»

For nearly five hours Steve Holly and hundreds of other parents waited to be reunited with their children. When Steve Holly was asked about the decision to allow her son to appear on television, Steve replied that it was a choice of Nate.

«But I feel that this is important: it is important that in such cases, heard the voice of the children, not just adults,» said Steve Holly.
