Cowboys to the rescue: 4 men from Oklahoma trying to save hundreds of animals from unprecedented floods

In the last 2 weeks ranch of Oklahoma was covered by unprecedented floods. Farmers are forced to look at the destruction of decades of their history, works, cattle and houses. But the company 4 old friends cowboys for a time abandoned its own case and have joined forces to save as many animals from the flood.

«When we realized how terrible was the flood, and knowing how many people are not able to get the help they need to rescue animals, we have posted a post in Facebook for free and offered their services,» he told Fox News Corey Conley (31). «This is the heart of America. We are not going to sit here and do nothing»,- he added.

Men, who were joined by dozens of volunteers, who also decided to help the farmers have already spent more than 15 rescue operations to help animals in the region. As a rule, they try to transport livestock to higher areas. During one incident, hunter Webster (24) from Colorado springs, co told me that he managed to move the herd further away from the flooded areas. But as precipitation continued to fall, the water level rose, inundating the former safe place and he had again to transport animals.

In some cases, volunteers had to help the horses that got stuck and couldn’t get out for several days. Basically, they helped the cows and sheep, and even one cat, which was already getting water.

«The owner of the cat was the woman who died a few weeks earlier, and now the pet is cared for by her daughter,» explained Casey, Thomas (29) from Cavity. «So it was very important to save this cat.»

As explained by Thomas, they have already moved to a safe place more than 350 head of cattle, 7 horses, 4 donkeys and, of course, that special family pet.

Although they were able to help hundreds of animals, it hurts to even think of how many could not be saved. «Lost thousands of head of cattle. For some it is a million dollars and that’s all they have,» said Shane Olson (33) of Verdigris.

Given the fact that 1 cow is worth about $1000, lost or rescued every animal plays a huge role in the life of a rancher.

Given the weather forecast, promising that in the next weeks or months will fall more more rain in Oklahoma froze in tense anticipation of new challenges. Was destroyed many acres of crops, which means higher prices on almost everything in the coming months. It is unclear when the farmers can sow the crop. In addition, people who are making ends meet through fishing, can’t earn money because lakes are closed.

But the cowboys insist that they are here to stay. They are absolutely free help to strangers and want to motivate other people to help communities in hard times. «We will continue until this ends,» Conley promised. «A fine line separates these animals from death, and we will all feel guilty if don’t at least try».
