At least 1 person was killed and 6 injured by a falling crane at a residential building in Dallas

The fire brigade spokesman Jason Evans said that at least one person was killed and 6 were injured after a construction crane fell on a residential complex in downtown Dallas.

The crane fell on an apartment building Elan City Lights, and the strongest impact was on the Eastern part and Parking of the building. Firefighters of Dallas have involved search dogs, looking for wounded people.

Evans added: «It’s a very difficult situation, because personally I can’t think that the crane fell on an already inhabited building.» He explained that a bowl of all construction cranes fall on their own or in buildings in which nobody lives, or which are under construction.

The representative of the hospital Baylor University Medical Center dyke Jones said that it took 3 patients. One of them is in critical condition, another in serious condition and the third has already assisted and go home. Another 3 patients were taken to the hospital Parkland Memorial Hospital. But the hospital has not yet reported on the condition of the victims.

The fall of the crane was seen by many. Witnesses said that he was swinging back and forth before falling.

Abbie Kearney lives in a residential complex with her husband, at the opposite end of the building from where the crane fell. She said: «it was a Sunny clear day and people were relaxing by the pool. Then suddenly it grew very dark, suddenly a strong wind picked up, and then just as quickly calmed down». When it got dark suddenly, Abby’s husband went to the patio overlooking the pool. They saw 3 beach umbrella rose into the air, and the furniture at the pool fell right into it.

The pair then saw a falling crane. «He entered the building… like a hot knife through butter. He cut a building with 5 up to maybe 3 floors,» he told them. The crane also hit the Park, so Abby my husband and I went to check the car. «We saw cars everywhere. I don’t even know how to describe it. Some cars stood upright, there was a car, probably from 8 to 3 floor, where we parked».

Sammy Sandquist also lives in the building, but she wasn’t home at the time of falling of the crane. She said that the residents sent to the Latino Cultural Center across the street where police are compiling lists of everyone who lives in the building.
