Police arrested the woman, bare feet trample on the eggs of sea turtles

On Saturday morning police in Miami beach arrested a resident of Michigan. Woman charged in attack on sea turtles or their eggs.

As told in police, bystanders and police officers were seen as jakun Lu (41 years old) was holding a wooden rack (which was supposed to protect the eggs) and «mocked nest of sea turtles, as well as circling around the nest with bare feet».

It is noted that a turtle nest was in a fenced, secured area on the beach. It was enclosed by a double perimeter 8 wooden racks and yellow tape. In addition, there hangs a sign «do Not disturb» as a warning for those who are remaining barriers was not enough.

POLICE: MBPD arrested a woman this morning seen “jabbing at a sea turtle nest and stomping all over the nest.” Thankfully, it appears the eggs were not damaged.

Miami beach is a natural environment for laying eggs for up to 3 protected species of sea turtles: loggerhead or loggerhead turtles, green turtles and leatherback turtles. These sea turtles lay their eggs on the beaches from April to November. That’s because the area where reptiles nest, surrounded with a protective barrier.

As reported by the Florida Commission for the protection of fish and wildlife, marine turtles are under Federal protection in the statutes of Florida law and the U.S. Endangered Species Act of 1973, which prohibit to intimidate and harm sea turtles, their nests or just velupillaya offspring.

The representative of police of Miami beach, Ernesto Rodriguez, said: «fortunately, the eggs seem to be safe».

Jakun Lou was taken to jail in Florida Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center. The bail amount for her release is $5000.

Police in Miami beach said the arrest of a woman notified the district attorney’s office Miami-Dade County and the Consulate of China in Houston as she is a citizen of China, which in the United States lives in Hudsonville, Michigan.
