«A drunken mistake»: a Bobcat escaped after a drunken man broke into her cage

21-year-old Caden Melia, a suspect in the escape of the lynx Evie from Reflection Riding Arboretum & Nature Center, was charged with vandalism and criminal trespass.

According to police, tn, the man confessed that, being in an alcohol intoxication, got into the cage with the lynx, breaking the lock with a rock. Then Melia has tried to play ball with it, but the animal escaped. Defendant claims that he wanted to drive the Bobcat back, but nothing came of it.

According to Mark McKnight, President of Reflection Riding Arboretum & Nature Center, Melia called the incident «a drunken mistake».

«It seems that it was more done out of stupidity than of spite,’ said McKnight, adding that Melia could not do it alone. — It’s definitely not called a second man who was with him, so there’s another person that we wish to prosecute».

Fortunately, thin and slightly wounded Evie managed to find thanks to the gunner. He will pay $500. Now the animal adapts to its permanent home at the centre and restore their strength.
