Former teacher at Las Brisas Academy Elementary School — 28-year-old Brittany Zamora from the city of Goodyear (AZ) was sentenced to 20 years in prison after pleading guilty to molesting 13-year-old schoolboy.
This sentence, which is the lowest possible punishment for a crime of this kind, was the culmination of a sensational case that attracted international attention.
The history of relations between Zamora and student
The boy’s parents learned that a married teacher was having sex with their son after they began to monitor his phone using the app.
Zamora enjoyed teaching sixth grade Academy in Las Brisas Elementary School. One day she couldn’t come to class and told students in a message. One such personal correspondence has evolved into flirtation and then sex.

Police reports stated that Zamora repeatedly had sex with the boy in his car and in the classroom, and once it happened in the presence of 11-year-old friend of the victim.
«Miss Zamora lured these boys have earned their trust, and then used them exclusively to satisfy their sexual desires, — was reported by Arizona Republic, the boy’s mother. — She used her power to molest a child. She’s a pedophile and it does not matter if in its place now sat a man.»
The boy’s mother said she hated Zamora for what she did to her child.
The sentence teacher
Zamora was arrested in March 2018, and last month she pleaded guilty to involvement of minors in sex acts, molestation of a child and sexual actions in public places.

«I am a good and sincere man who made a mistake and deeply regrets it, said Zamora before sentencing. — I have lived my life respecting and striving to obey every law. I in no way pose a threat to society.»
The former teacher apologized to the victims, their families and their own family. She assured judge sherry Stephens that her actions were not typical for it, and said that he would like to do counseling. According to Zamora, she plans to get an education in prison, so she could begin a new career upon release.

But the Prosecutor of Maricopa County Lacey Fisher believes that Zamora had only stopped because she got caught.
«If (parents) don’t know what’s happening, there’s no doubt that there would be more victims,» said Fisher.
Outside of the courtroom Zamora in a statement read by her lawyer blamed the child she was sexually abused, and called himself a victim.
«It was not between a small child and Brittany — it was a teenager,» said the lawyer Belen Olmedo Guerra at a press conference after the hearing.
As reported in KVOA-TV, the family of the victim was not present at sentencing, but their testimony was read to them by counsel.
