The Soviet-American singer and songwriter Willy Tokarev died at the age of 84 years. The first reported host of «echo of Moscow» Nikolay Tamrazov contacted the family of the artist.
The cause of death Tokarev has not yet been announced, but we know that in may of 2019, his health has deteriorated.
Willy Tokarev (full name — Vilaine) was born November 11, 1934 on a farm Chernyshev in the Republic of Adygea. After moving to Saint Petersburg, he entered the music school at the Leningrad Conservatory named after Rimsky-Korsakov and started to write own songs, including «Rain» Edita and «Who is guilty?» Anatoly Korolev.
In 1974 Tokarev immigrated to the United States. Although his first released in the States, the album had much success, the second — «In a noisy farce» — brought the singer popularity among Russian-speaking Americans. In the 1980s, the composer worked in new York restaurants «Sadko», «Odessa» and «seaside», where he received the title of «Honorary Jew of Brighton». Tokarev also founded in the United States his own label, One Man Band.
In the 1990s, singer returned to Russia, where he continued to write music and tour. In 2017, he performed in Moscow new song called Trumplissimo America, in support of the inauguration of Donald trump as the 45th President of the United States.
