Three American tourists, including the wife, drowned during a holiday in the British Turks and Caicos Islands

The couple and another resident of Texas, died after a tragic accident on the Turks and Caicos Islands, which are British territory in the Atlantic ocean.

The Royal police force of Turks and Caicos Islands reported that five tourists were in difficulty in the waters of Middle Caicos. According to police and local sources, on August 5, the group explored the scenic beach Bambarra, when the three adults came in a swift wave caused by strong winds.

The two drowned were identifitsirovany as 33-year-old Irma Barrer and her 38-year-old wife of Roy Perez from lake Jackson. The husband and wife were on vacation with his 15 year old daughter.

The third victim, a man vacationing with Barrier and Peres, was also with his daughter. Rescuers managed to get the girls out of the water, but not their parents. The police haven’t reported the third victim, whose body was found on the shore only on Tuesday, 6 August.

Police Commissioner Trevor Bottinga called the incident «a terrible tragedy», according to Agence France-Presse. On the page in Facebook he thanked everyone who participated in search and rescue operations.

Family members of Barrera and Perez told KTRK-TV that they will arrive on the Caribbean archipelago on Wednesday, August 7, to pick up daughter of the couple and learn more about what happened.

Turks and Caicos Islands are a chain of Islands in the Atlantic ocean, to the South-East of the Bahamas and near the Dominican Republic.
