A fisherman who is crab fishing in the Bahamas, and his wife fought for their lives during hurricane Dorian, when rising from the storm water made them hostages of their own home, and then killed a woman.
In a very emotional interview that the man gave to CNN on Tuesday, Howard, Armstrong said that he was forced to helplessly watch as his wife lost the battle with the elements and drowned right before his eyes during a terrible hurricane. The shocking incident took place in Freeport, which was destroyed this week.
«With us all was fine until, until I started up the water and around the house began to whirl different devices, such as in a washing machine,» — said Armstrong, noting that the water rose almost to the roof, «at least to a height of 21 feet».
«My poor little wife got hypothermia, and she stood in the kitchen cupboard…I was with her until she drowned in my eyes,» he said.

To a journalist’s question about how he got out of the house, the fisherman said that finally took a chance and swam to his boat, standing on the outside.

At the time of Wednesday morning, the official death toll from the disaster stood at seven people, but the final number is likely to be more as rescue teams continue to comb the affected areas.
Prime Minister Hubert of Minnis called the hurricane Dorian gray «one of the biggest national crises» in the country’s history. Flying over the island of Abaco on Tuesday, he described what he saw «severe flooding and severe damage to» homes, offices and other buildings. «Part of the island was devastated by hurricane Dorian»,- he wrote in Twitter.
