«My wife drowned before my eyes»: a fisherman from the Bahamas was helpless like a hurricane Dorian took the life of his wife

«My poor little wife got hypothermia, and she stood in the kitchen cupboard…I was with her until she drowned in my eyes,» he said.

To a journalist’s question about how he got out of the house, the fisherman said that finally took a chance and swam to his boat, standing on the outside.

At the time of Wednesday morning, the official death toll from the disaster stood at seven people, but the final number is likely to be more as rescue teams continue to comb the affected areas.

Prime Minister Hubert of Minnis called the hurricane Dorian gray «one of the biggest national crises» in the country’s history. Flying over the island of Abaco on Tuesday, he described what he saw «severe flooding and severe damage to» homes, offices and other buildings. «Part of the island was devastated by hurricane Dorian»,- he wrote in Twitter.
